Ankara underlined its resolve to continue oil imports from Iran despite the sanctions imposed on Iranian oil by the US and the European Union.

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz made the remarks on Wednesday, adding that his country will continue importing oil from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Turkish minister said his country is only committed to the decisions made by the United Nations in this regard.

Turkey does not give heed to the recent sanctions on Iran's oil exports imposed by the US and the EU, Yildiz said.

Elaborating on the issue, the Turkish minister said the private company of Toprash and the public company of Botash will not stop buying oil and gas from Iran.

Referring to the last year's oil and gas agreements reached between Iran and Turkey, the minister said Turkey will fulfill all its commitments regarding the Iranian side.
